To Panama, Uganda, and Beyond!

The robins are back, the maple trees are pouring out their sap, and we wake to the sound of chirping birds. Glory be to God – we’ve made it through the winter!
This spring it was a family affair tapping the five maple trees in our yard. We netted over a gallon of syrup (that’s 45 gallons of sap!) and we are tickled with our haul. 

Last week, Tom lead a team of engineering students who drove up from Texas to spend their university spring break serving in missions. The team of bright young minds poured into several projects and got a feel for using professional skills to advance the Gospel. Praise God for granting them favor and Tom patience and energy to lead them well.

In April, Tom will be in Panama assisting a ministry partner that works with the Embera people group. This group recently received the New Testament and five books of the old testament in their native language. Tom will have the opportunity to field-test equipment he’s been working on in Elkhart and to assist the ministry in a variety of technical ways. Please pray for Tom in this endeavor and for the kids and Candice as they hold down the fort at home.

In our last newsletter, we mentioned how God overcame the computer chip-shortage and brought 10,000 SonSet Radios through customs and import challenges to our ministry headquarters in Indiana. SonSet radios bring the Gospel to hard to reach countries and communities.  This shipment of radios has been spoken for by ministry partners in various counties and the task now is getting them through quality assurance testing, tuning them to correspond to our ministry partner’s radio station, packaging them, and shipping them off to their final destinations. Our family had the honor of processing 500 of these radios as a work team with our son Jonathan’s homeschool robotics team. These 500 radios are being sent to a refugee camp in Uganda and an undisclosed country.

Candice has been invited by the University of Victoria to be a (virtual) guest lecturer to speak on world hunger and her experience addressing malnutrition in the developing world. Her lecture is on April 4th. Please pray she can inspire young minds in how they, too, can use their passion and education to help others in a world filled with much need.
